Engineering services group Cardno has posted its seventh consecutive year of record profits and earnings per share growth as a listed company and says the outlook remains positive.
Net profit for the 12 months to June 30 rose by 56.5 per cent to $58.8 million compared with the previous corresponding 12 months.
Managing director Andrew Buckley said growth in the North American environmental sector as well as services delivered on the Gulf of Mexico oil spill clean-up project made important contributions to the full-year result.
"While performance in other sectors varied due to market conditions, the outlook for Cardno remains positive across our business especially in the mining, energy, oil and gas sectors where Cardno continues to grow a stronger presence," Mr Buckley said in a statement on Tuesday.
During the 2011 financial year, Cardno added three new companies to its portfolio including 150-person US consulting firm JFNew, 60-person Queensland construction materials testing and geotechnical engineering firm Roadtest and the 100-person BEC electrical engineering services firm, which is based in Perth with offices in Brisbane and Tanzania.
Overall revenue was up 74 per cent at $831.20 million, while earnings per share were 56.29 cents, up from 43.86 cents in 2009/10.
A final dividend of 17 cents, unfranked, was declared, bringing total dividends to 34 cents, up from 29 cents in 2009/10.
Cardno listed on the Australian Securities Exchange in 2004.
