CIMIC wins $100m BHP contract

BHP has brought on one of CIMIC Group’s subsidiaries to oversee a debottlenecking project at the miner’s Nelson Point iron ore port in Port Hedland.

The structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation package will be delivered by CIMIC’s Australasian construction business, CPB Contractors.

It is expected to generate some $100 million in revenue.

CIMIC executive chair and chief executive Juan Santamaria said the business was pleased to support BHP with the project.

“Our mining and resources experience and history in the Pilbara means we can collaborate on the project’s high standards of safety and quality,” Mr Santamaria said in a statement.

Works are set to start this year and finish in 2023.

CIMIC shares are trading at $17.37.
