The head of WA’s peak business lobby group, James Pearson, is joining Shell Australia to head its Perth-based communications and government relations team.
Mr Pearson has been the Western Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s chief executive for the past five and a half years.
CCI president John Atkins said Mr Pearson had led the group through a period defined by economic and political challenge and change.
“He and his team provided leadership and support for the local business community as it grappled with the global financial crisis and its aftermath, an interruption in gas supply, the advent of the resources super profits tax, rapid growth in demand for capital, labour and infrastructure and several state and federal elections,” Mr Atkins said.
Mr Pearson will finish in the role at the end of November.
