Super Cheap Auto is planning to purchase the Marlows and Rocca Brothers auto parts, service and accessories chains from Marlows Limited.
The acquisition - a first for Super Cheap - will include 20 stores in Western Australia, South Australia and Victoria.
Settlement of the deal is expected in late April.
Marlows managing director Paul Wagner will remain with the company, as will others involved in retail operations and distribution.
Super Cheap operates 119 stores in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, the Northern Territory, Tasmania and the ACT.
The company plans to expand further, with 40 new stores in 2003, half of these in WA and SA.
WA-based Marlows first opened in the City Arcade (Perth) basement in 1974, and went on to purchase the SA-based Rocca Brothers in 1995.
The Super Cheap-Marlows heads of agreement has been engineered by Ernst & Young, Perth, Grant Thornton Accountants’ Perth and Brisbane, and legal firm Redmond van de Graaff.
