Brownes Dairy reports profit, revenue rises amid exports surge

Brownes Dairy's parent company has recorded profit and revenue increases it attributes to the growth of its export trade.
Chinese consortium Australia Zhiran Co, which owns Balcatta-based Brownes and other dairy subsidiaries, reported a $268.7 million revenue for the year ending December 31, in its latest financial report.
The reported revenue is a 10 per cent jump on the $244 million recorded in 2023.
The company also recorded a $4 million profit in 2024, an increase from the $3.2 million in the previous corresponding period.
Brownes Dairy chief executive Natalie Sarich-Dayton said the increase in total revenue was fuelled by exports into new markets including Singapore, Malaysia and the UK.
Exports of Brownes’ cold brew coffee product, Hunt and Brew, accounted for nearly $20 million of the total annual revenue in 2024, the company said in its statement.
“We launched our cold brew coffee product Hunt and Brew into the UK through a distribution deal with Britain’s largest grocer Tesco, and we also expanded throughout Asia with a number of partnerships including 7-Eleven,” Ms Sarich-Dayton said.
“We are now successfully exporting Australia’s number one ready to drink specialty coffee brand Hunt and Brew into several countries.
“And we are really just at the beginning of where we see the potential for this brand from a global perspective.”
The company’s financial report shows Ms Sarich-Dayton resigned as a director in September, but remained the chief executive at Brownes.
Ms Sarich-Dayton said Brownes would continue to expand into new export markets internationally.
“While we are proud of our progress, we remain focused on balancing growth with our core values: supporting our farmers, ensuring affordability for consumers, and delivering the highest-quality dairy products,” she said.
