Battery Minerals has appointed highly experienced resources executive and geologist Peter Duerden as managing director, effective 10 January 2022, and David Flanagan will transition from executive chair to non-executive chair. Mr Duerden has over 20 years of experience in the mining and exploration industry, working across a wide range of commodities and deposit styles. He will be responsible for driving the company’s exploration and growth strategies across its Victorian and Western Australia projects.
Cazaly Resources has appointed Jonathan Downes as an independent non-executive director. Mr Downes has over 30 years of experience in the mineral and energy sectors; in project identification & development; and in nickel, gold & base metals and electrical energy solutions.
Focus Minerals has appointed Richard O'Shannassy as an independent non-executive director. Mr O’Shannassy has more than 35 years of experience as a commercial lawyer, and has served on mining industry committees for several years.
Dr Adam McKinnon will become the managing director of Magmatic Resources in the first quarter of 2022, following Peter Duerden’s appointment as managing director of Battery Minerals. Dr McKinnon is a gold and base metals exploration and mining professional with extensive discovery experience in central western New South Wales.
Okapi Resources has appointed highly experienced mining executive Andrew Ferrier as managing director, effective 13 December. Mr Ferrier has more than 15 years of experience in management, corporate finance and principal investing roles within the global mining sector. He also has significant knowledge and understanding of the North American Uranium space. Okapi aims to become a new leader in North American carbon-free nuclear energy. Current executive director, David Nour, who has been on the board since November 2019, will be retiring at the upcoming AGM on 30 November.
Podium Minerals has appointed Hannah Hudson as chief financial officer and company secretary from 13 December, taking over from Russell Thomson who will also resign as an executive director. Ms Hudson is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 17 years of experience as a senior executive and company secretary with ASX-listed and private companies.
