Western Australia is set to host one of the most exciting and forward-thinking events in the life sciences sector. The inaugural BioInnovation Festival will take place from March 27–30, 2025, across Perth, Fremantle, and the Southwest. With its diverse program, the Festival promises to be a dynamic platform that will showcase groundbreaking innovations and the immense potential of Western Australia’s biosector.
The Festival, a collaboration between Life Sciences WA, For Blue, the Innovation Cluster, and the Aquaculture Council of Western Australia Inc., builds on the success of the Life Sciences WA Biosymposium series. It is set to become an annual cornerstone event for the state’s bioinnovation sector. The Festival will bring together global experts, visionary innovators, and strategic investors from a range of industries, including medical and health, agriculture, aquaculture, and more. These sectors will come together to discuss the future of life sciences and how technology can drive growth and sustainability in WA’s bioeconomy.
A Hub of Innovation and Knowledge Sharing
The BioInnovation Conference will be one of the Festival’s primary attractions. Taking place at the Westin Hotel, the conference will offer a deep dive into the future of investment and innovation in the life sciences sector. High-profile venture capitalists, company founders, and thought leaders from pharma, medtech, agritech, bluetech, and other industries will gather to share insights on emerging trends, investment opportunities, and challenges. An exhibition area will highlight Western Australian bioinnovation companies, alongside Startup Alley—a special space dedicated to new startups and emerging ventures.
In addition to the conference, the Aquaculture Research, Development, and Extension Workshop will serve as an important forum for collaborative discussion. This workshop will bring together industry players, academic researchers, and government scientists to tackle the future of aquaculture in Western Australia, focusing on the development needs and opportunities for the next 5 to 10 years.
The Down South adVentures Weekend will offer a unique blend of cultural exploration and networking. This extraordinary experience combines regional discovery with cutting-edge technological and entrepreneurial development. Satellite events will further extend the Festival’s networking opportunities, fostering connections across sectors and creating pathways for future collaboration.
An Unmissable Event for Investors, Innovators, and Industry Leaders
The BioInnovation Festival presents numerous opportunities to engage with the growing biosector in Western Australia. Attendees can expect to network with global leaders in the life sciences space, while businesses can explore new avenues for investment and collaboration. Sponsors and partners will also benefit from enhanced visibility and access to key decision-makers.
This year’s BioInnovation Festival has been made possible by the generous support of several key stakeholders, including Meshpoints, an initiative powered by Lotterywest and Spacecubed, which is dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Western Australia. The Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has provided funding for the Down South adVentures Weekend through its Support Regional Trade Events Program, while the University of Western Australia has signed on as a Platinum Partner.
The event also enjoys the continued support of major sponsors such as the City of Perth, Wrays | Intellectual Property, and the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation. The Aquaculture Research, Development and Extension Workshop has received funding from the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation on behalf of the Australian Government.
