Atlas Iron chief executive David Flanagan will press federal independent MPs about the Gillard government's "bad decisions", including the new mining tax.
Mr Flanagan says he will travel to Canberra late today to meet Tony Windsor, Rob Oakeshott and Bob Katter.
"When you have those guys with so much power in the government, you end up having decisions being made which are centric around those (their) stakeholder groups," he told an Australian British Chamber of Commerce event in Perth.
"It's quite dangerous if you're not only geographically a long way from those stakeholder groups, but if you're in a different industry.
"And also those people are not reflective of the whole country.
"You end up with concessions going to stakeholder groups, which can be good for them in the short term, but bad for the whole country in the long term.
"There's some of the messages that we're trying to convey - perhaps there's a way to deal for those stakeholder groups and everyone else, and make the country better and stronger.
"And we're not giving up."
Mr Flanagan, whose company is undertaking a 500 per cent increase in iron ore production over the next six months, said the Mineral Resources Rent Tax did not provide a level playing field for iron ore miners.
"Smaller companies are going to be paying more tax than bigger companies ... the way it's currently set up, it subsidises the incumbent, major iron ore companies."
He said "bad decision after bad decision" by the federal government was hampering market confidence and sentiment.
"The decisions that are made in government are really important - they're really serious - and I'm sick of hearing jokes about her (Julia Gillard) and (Western Bulldogs AFL player) Barry Hall and football when we caught up recently," Mr Flanagan said.
He said the bad decisions went beyond business, with the government exempting certain blood cancer medication from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme until its delivers its surplus in 2012/13.
Mr Flanagan is on the advisory board for the Leukemia Foundation of Western Australia.
