Are you getting the most out of your cloud service provider?

The face of modern-day computing has seen a dramatic change since the advent of the cloud, which in recent times has been accelerated by the rapid transition to remote work. This has catalysed digital transformation at record speeds, shifting many organisations and their entire processes to the cloud. Motivated by the benefits cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC) brings—improved agility, accelerated testing and optimised business value—many organisations chose to make this move permanent, rather than temporary.

“All areas of contemporary research require access to advanced computing capabilities such as big data, data science and HPC,” said Professor Andrew Rohl, Head of the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences, Curtin University. Cloud-centric HPC architectures introduce an entirely new approach to problem-solving by encouraging collaboration and promoting digital dexterity—key to bringing solutions to market rapidly and cost-effectively.

Experienced Australian provider offers reliable, green, cost-efficient cloud-based HPCaaS.

With over 19 years of international experience, Perth-headquartered DUG Technology (DUG) is proud to design, own and operate a network of some of the greenest supercomputing installations on Earth.

DUG offers private, cloud-based HPC as a service (HPCaaS)—pure performance in a secure, fully-provisioned and fully-supported environment. DUG’s differentiated capability in HPCaaS offers a complete stack, which includes trimmings typically unavailable in public or private clouds. These include high-speed networks with low latency, innovative solid-state-drive-based storage systems and professional services such as code optimisation, algorithm development and on-demand software support—all tailored to your specific computing requirements.

This includes not only support for the infrastructure (which is offered by most clouds) but also bespoke end-user support for domain-specific workflows. This unique service includes benchmarking, tuning and testing to ensure you’re using optimal hardware and benefiting from efficient and effective use of the platform. DUG’s HPCaaS also affords greater system flexibility by dynamically allocating resources for each task while maximising productivity without the need for dedicated hardware resources per application. Ultimately, you only pay for the capacity you utilise, without any upfront capital investment.

DUG’s HPCaaS offering is ideal for both experienced HPC users and those who lack the resources, time and expertise to set up and configure virtual machines, manage workflows, optimise software for the hardware and oversee the security.

Flexibility to spin up virtual machines.

DUG also offers the flexibility to spin up virtual machines, allowing organisations to host their own services with DUG as a fully-supported one-stop shop. This enables organisations to reduce IT costs and the need to spread workloads across multiple servers, while increasing the efficiency, utilisation and flexibility of their existing hardware resources, making it easier to scale applications.

In this offering, you have control over the virtual machines—install an operating system of your choice, onboard any software or service you require, configure networking and interconnectivity between the virtual machines or even to DUG’s systems, create your own online storage, and set up your firewalls and security systems.

Running your virtual machines at DUG also leverages the company’s patented dielectric-fluid immersion-cooling technology for hardware, DUG Cool, which uses 85% less synthetic refrigerants and slashes power consumption by up to 51%. Those are significant numbers with respect to both their economic and environmental outcomes, and have helped fuel decarbonisation efforts across many industries. For instance, the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) highlighted in their Sustainability Statement the power-saving benefits of DUG Cool, which helped reduce their carbon footprint and meet environmental, social and governance (ESG) requirements.

Tailored and efficient HPC solutions.

You may choose to work independently or collaborate with DUG’s team of world-class research scientists, mathematicians and software engineers who are available to help get your project up and running quickly and cost-efficiently.

DUG’s unique and green cloud services allow you to focus on your science goals and support your broader range of business applications—everything you need to be successful.
