Communicare has appointed Helen Mitchell as chief executive of Communicare and White Ribbon Australia, following a period as acting CEO. Ms Mitchell has executive experience across the health and community services sectors. In the role, she will lead both organisations, which deliver community services and programs across Western Australia and nationally.
Northern Star Resources has appointed former Anglo American chief executive Mark Cutifani and corporate finance executive Peter Rozenauers as non-executive directors. Mr Cutifani, who previously managed the Kalgoorlie Super Pit, has stepped down from the Woodside Energy board after six months. Both new Northern Star directors will join a strategic review committee chaired by former Perseus Mining managing director Jeff Quartermaine to review the gold miner’s portfolio.
District Court principal registrar Brenda McGivern has been appointed a judge of the District Court of Western Australia, commencing October 5. Dr McGivern has almost 30 years’ legal experience spanning private practice, academia, tribunal decision-making and court administration. She has served as principal registrar since July 2022 and as an ordinary member of the State Administrative Tribunal since 2020. Her appointment fills a newly funded judicial position.
Cazaly Resources has appointed Adrian Byass as managing director, effective October 8, succeeding Tara French, who has resigned to pursue other opportunities in the resources sector. Mr Byass brings experience across technical, corporate leadership and capital markets roles and will help lead a strategic review of the West Perth-based explorer’s portfolio. He will also transition from executive to non-executive chair of Infinity Metals.
49 Metals has appointed chief executive Phil Carter as managing director as the Subiaco-based explorer progresses its Gold Mountain project in the US. Mr Carter has served as chief executive since the company listed in March and has overseen the advancement of its exploration programs and strategic direction. Oliver Kreuzer will move from executive director to non-executive director but will remain involved in the development of Gold Mountain.
Duketon Mining managing director and chief executive Stuart Fogarty will transition to a non-executive director from October 30. Mr Fogarty will remain on the West Perth-based explorer’s board as it progresses its Barlee gold project and other WA exploration assets. Duketon said it would appoint a new chief executive to lead the company through its next phase of exploration and growth.
Jupiter Mines has appointed Matthew Jarvis as interim chief executive following managing director Brad Rogers’ resignation after four years with the company. Mr Jarvis, who joined Jupiter in 2022, is a mining engineer with experience across Australia and South Africa, including at the company’s Tshipi manganese mine. Mr Rogers will remain managing director until December, before joining Canada-based North American Construction Group as president and chief executive.
Peel Thunder Football Club has appointed Daniel Bandy as chief executive on a permanent basis, after he served in the role on an interim basis since February. Mr Bandy succeeds Paul Lekias, who departed after five years as chief executive. A former AFL player, Mr Bandy played 150 games for Fremantle and the Western Bulldogs between 1995 and 2005. His permanent appointment follows Peel Thunder’s qualification for the 2026 WAFL grand final.
Wagyl Kaip Southern Noongar Aboriginal Corporation has appointed Heidi Mippy as chief executive. Ms Mippy brings more than two decades of experience across government, academia and social enterprise, spanning community development, land management, economic development and Indigenous engagement. She also serves on the boards of the Western Australian Biodiversity Science Institute, Impact Seed, the Zero Net Emissions in Agriculture Cooperative Research Centre and the Healing Country Research Centre.
Insurance broking and risk advisory firm Cowden has appointed Barry Drinkwater as general manager of its Western Australian operations. Mr Drinkwater has held senior executive and national leadership roles across insurance broking and underwriting, with experience leading businesses and developing teams. He commenced with Cowden in September and has also joined the privately owned company’s national leadership team.
Vulcan Energy has appointed Angus Barker as non-executive chair, succeeding founder Francis Wedin, who will transition from executive chair to a dedicated founder role. Mr Barker joined Vulcan’s board in 2024 and was most recently lead independent director and deputy chair. He has more than 30 years’ experience across corporate finance, capital markets and strategic advisory, including senior roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Deutsche Bank and UBS.
303 Perth has appointed Simon Lamplough as chief executive, while former Marketforce chief executive Adam Marshall has been appointed Omnicom Oceania’s first WA chief executive. Mr Lamplough, formerly chief customer officer at Kitchen Warehouse and managing director of Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, will oversee the integration of Marketforce’s creative business following its acquisition by 303. Mr Marshall will lead Omnicom’s WA operations across media, technology, data and consulting as part of the restructure.
The Public Transport Authority of WA has appointed Elwyn Gearon as managing director, following a period acting in the role. Mr Gearon is a mechanical engineer with more than 25 years’ experience in public transport and was previously the authority’s operations manager. He has held senior roles across WA’s public transport network and will lead the agency responsible for the state’s bus, train and ferry services.
Woods Bagot has appointed Geoffrey Ax as aviation lead in Western Australia, with the international aviation specialist relocating from New York to work on the Perth Airport redevelopment. Mr Ax brings experience across major aviation projects internationally and was previously aviation practice leader for the Americas at global architecture and design firm Populous.
