This week's appointments include Veronica Jeffery, Kylie Groves, Marisa Orr, Tim Fraser, Ben Jones, Graham Gadsby and more.


Veronica Jeffery and Kylie Groves have been appointed to the Arts and Culture Trust board. Ms Jeffery has more than 30 years of experience in government policy and local communities. Her senior roles include deputy chief of staff to former premier Mark McGowan.
Ms Groves is a senior legal practitioner and has more than 20 years of experience advising government and non-government clients. Melvin Yeo and Zoe Atkinson’s roles as members of the board have been renewed for another four-year term.
The Town of Victoria Park has announced Alison Luobikis has begun as chief operating officer. She was previously City of Armadale head of service delivery in technical services and a mine productivity lead at Rio Tinto.
Commercial law firm Piper Alderman has appointed Marisa Orr as partner its national corporate team. She began September 8, coming from her role as special counsel at Paladin Energy on secondment. Ms Orr is a senior mergers and acquisitions, and equity capital markets lawyer with 16 years of experience.
Tim Fraser has started as Minderoo Foundation director of engagement. He was executive director of local government at the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, and has worked in various other senior state government positions for more than 20 years.
Ben Jones has begun as a partner at corporate advisor Poynton Stavrianou, specialising in property. He has more than 25 years of experience in real estate finance and valuation. Mr Jones was previously WA head of business banking at St George Bank.
King River Resources Ltd has appointed Graham Gadsby to the position of managing director from October 14. Prior to the new role, Mr Gadsby was Spartan Resources general manager of operations and chief geologist.
Julian Donaldson will be retiring from his position as chief executive of the National Trust of Australia in January after holding the position for 10 years. He was previously chief executive of Perth Festival and Town of Cottesloe mayor.
Tim Milsom has retired from his role as founding chief executive of the Noongar Chamber of Commerce and Industry after seven years. Mr Milsom was previously chief executive of the Fremantle Chamber of Commerce Inc.
Blaine Slater has been appointed chief executive of the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia, following Cath Hart’s resignation in May. Ms Hart had spent three years in the role before moving to become managing director of her own consultancy Rubicon IndoPacific. Mr Slater was chief operating officer of TSA Group and had worked at the business process outsourcing company since 2005.
Colleen Altstock is the new Consul General of the United States Consulate in Perth. She will serve a three-year term on diplomatic assignment in the state. Ms Altstock has more than 20 years of diplomatic experience and comes from her role as the economic and political section chief at the US Consulate General in Shanghai.
Aaron Morey has been appointed chief executive of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia, leaving his significant roles at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA. He was CCIWA’s chief economist and acting co-chief executive with Matt Golds. Mr Golds has since been appointed sole acting chief executive as the recruitment process for the role is underway.
Fortescue Zero chief executive Ellie Coates has resigned from leading the miner’s green technology development division from the United Kingdom due to family reasons. Ms Coates, described as a valued member of Fortescue’s ranks, will return to Australian soil after serving 10 months in the UK-based role.
Acova announced the appointment of inaugural chief executive Marcus Ashby, who has a technology development background. Acova is the new joint venture of CBH Group and local technology developer Deimos Laboratory to advance a visual analysis tool for assessing grain quality.
