Woodside Energy has appointed Anthony O'Neill to its board as a non-executive director. Mr O’Neill has led a career in the resources industry, working in an array of senior executive roles and retiring from his most recent role as Anglo American group executive director of technical and sustainability in December 2022. Mr O’Neill is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
Laura Benger has been selected as Maroomba Airlines chief executive, bringing her senior executive experience in the mining and resources industry to the airline. Ms Benger worked for BHP until April, serving in several roles during her three-year tenure including head of planning and projects. Ms Benger has a range of board experience and currently serves as a non-executive director at Samaritans WA and SensesWA, and as chair at Miners’ Promise. Western Australia-based Maroomba has facilitated flights between Perth and regional WA, supporting the fly-in fly-out workforce, for nearly 40 years.
Josh Byrne & Associates has announced Paul Verity as design director, elevating from his former position as the company’s principal landscape architect. Mr Verity joined JBA in 2019 and has overseen the delivery of projects such as DevelopmentWA’s OneOneFive Hamilton Hill, the Mandurah Eastern Foreshore and the Cable Beach redevelopment in Broome. Mr Verity took up the position of state executive at the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects in July 2023. Prior to joining JBA, Mr Verity worked for Syrinx Environmental for three years.
Matthew Worner has been recruited as a partner at Vector Advisors, leaving his previous role as Grange Consulting Group corporate advisor after more than three years. Mr Worner has a wealth of experience as a corporate lawyer and board director, and has worked for a variety of ASX-listed resources companies. He has formerly served as Talon Petroleum director, Patriot Lithium non-executive director, and Lykos Metals chair, and he currently sits on the board of D3 Energy.
ASX-listed IGO Limited has revealed two additions to its executive leadership team, onboarding Marie Bourgoin and Brett Salt. Ms Bourgoin has been appointed as chief development officer – lithium and is expected to commence in August, while Mr Salt will take up the position as chief growth and commercial officer in July.
Perth Symphony Orchestra founder Bourby Webster has accepted a position as director of creative activation and public engagement at Edith Cowan University’s City campus. In her new role, Ms Webster would lead the immersive activations and public experience of ECU City, guiding strategic creative partnerships and interactive cultural experiences at the $853 million project. Ms Webster founded artist development company North Street Music in 2007 and went on to establish Perth Symphony Orchestra in 2011. She led the organisation as chief executive and creative director until mid-2022 before officially resigning in December that year.
GTI Energy has recruited former Cameco Australia general manager Simon Williamson as a non-executive director. Mr Williamson spent 13 years at Cameco, which is the second largest annual producer of uranium in the world. GTI also confirmed the resignation of chair and director Nathan Lude after five years with the uranium aspirant.
