Perth dealmaker Michael Ashforth has joined the board of goldminer Northern Star Resources, while stepping away from his role with investment bank Goldman Sachs. The miner said he would be focusing on his other board positions with Sandfire Resources and Sheffield Resources. Mr Ashforth has been a part-time special adviser to Goldman Sachs since 2022 but will no longer consult the firm following his appointment to the mining company. With about 30 years of experience, with dealmaker was previously executive chairman of AMB Holdings, and held executive roles with Macquire Capital, Gresham Partners and law firm Freehills, among other positions.
Engineering services company Orontide Group has hired Tony McClure as its new chief executive. Mr McClure brings more than three decades of expertise to the Henderson-based company, across a variety of industries including mining, oil and gas, construction, maintenance, fabrication, and service delivery. Mr McClure’s former roles include his most recent position as the western regional manager at construction company Guidera O’Connor, as well as a four-year stint as Mineral Resources general manager between 2013 and 2017. Mr McClure takes over the top job at Orontide from Stewart Maddison, who has stepped into a non-executive board director position after a nine year tenure as chief executive.
Dean Horton has been selected as Greatland Gold chief financial officer, bringing more than 25 years of experience to the position. Mr Horton formerly served at Fortescue Metals for three years and National Australia Bank for nine years, developing his specialisation in project debt financing of resources and energy projects. Following Mr Horton’s appointment at Subiaco-based Greatland Gold, acting chief financial officer Monique Connolly has been appointed as general manager finance. Ms Connolly joined the company in 2021 as financial controller before stepping up as acting CFO in January.
Fenix Resources has appointed Shannon Coates as a non-executive director on the ASX-listed iron ore producer’s board. Ms Coates has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate law and compliance and has worked as managing director at national service provider Source Governance since mid-2022. For four years, Ms Coates has served as a non-executive director at Bellevue Gold and chairs the company’s nomination and remuneration committee.
Real estate agency Lease Equity has revealed two internal appointments, promoting James Hopkins to director of leasing and Jared Dimbleby to associate director of leasing. Mr Hopkins’ new role continues a string of promotions over his 11 year career with Lease Equity. He joined the company in 2013 as a research analyst before elevating to senior leasing executive, and later, associate director of leasing. As he leaves this final role to become director of leasing, Mr Dimbleby has stepped up to this position. He commenced with Lease Equity in 2019 as a leasing executive.
Alex Biddulph has been promoted to the role of partner within Lavan’s banking and finance team. Mr Biddulph specialises in commercial banking, finance and lending transactions and joined Lavan in 2021. Before this, he worked a six-month stint at Lawyers on Demand as a legal counsel after a series of contract jobs in London. Mr Biddulph has also previously worked at HWL Ebsworth Lawyers and Norton Rose Fulbright.
