Daniel Pastorelli has been sworn in as Western Australia's Minister for Mines, Petroleum and Exploration and Water following Premier Roger Cook's cabinet reshuffle. Mr Pastorelli, the Member for Landsdale, previously served as a parliamentary secretary and was Premier Roger Cook's chief of staff. The reshuffle also saw Premier Cook assume the tourism portfolio, while David Michael was appointed Minister for State Development.
David McCallum has been appointed as a Judge of the District Court of Western Australia, commencing on August 3. He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Michael Bowden. A highly regarded criminal law barrister, Mr McCallum has more than 20 years' experience in criminal trial work, appearing for both the defence and prosecution. He has also been recognised in multiple editions of Doyle's Guide as a leading WA criminal law barrister.
Governance and technology leader Arnold Wong has joined the board of Alzheimer's WA as a director. Mr Wong brings strategic leadership and community sector experience through his roles as deputy chair of Advocare WA and board positions with Multicultural Futures, Software Australia and the Australian Computer Society. Chair Professor Warren Harding AM said the appointment comes at a critical time as demand for dementia services continues to grow amid aged care reforms.
HHG Legal Group has appointed Kimi Shah as partner as part of a series of promotions across the firm. James Versteegen and Luke Davies have been promoted to managing associate, Patrick Beilby to special counsel, and Adam Hughes and Lila Guerreiro to associate. The firm has also welcomed back Alyce Martin to work across governance, commercial law, and wills, estates and succession planning.
Terra Metals has appointed Ben Hammond as chief development officer and Barry Jones as general manager exploration and operations to support development of its critical minerals Dante Project in WA. Mr Hammond brings more than 22 years' experience in mine development and project finance, while Mr Jones has more than 25 years' international exploration experience.
RedSands Campers has appointed former SeaLink WA general manager Leycester Cory as general manager. Mr Cory brings more than 30 years' experience across tourism, transport, sales and business management, and will lead the WA-based camper hire company through its next phase of growth. He previously led SeaLink WA's tourism and transport operations across the state.
