Western Australia Return Recycle Renew Limited (WARRL), the scheme coordinator for Containers for Change in Western Australia, has appointed Kate Brooks as chief executive. Dr Brooks brings more than 30 years of experience across industry, government and the university sector, with expertise in sustainability, digital transformation, operational management and organisational change.
Northern Star Resources has appointed former Wesfarmers executive Terry Bowen as an independent non-executive director from September. Mr Bowen previously held senior roles at Wesfarmers, Jetstar Airways and Coles Group and served as a BHP director. He will also chair Northern Star’s audit and risk committee, replacing outgoing director John Fitzgerald.
Perth-based mental health organisation The Push for Better Foundation has appointed Gretchen Masters, Brent Hedley and David Beer to its board of directors. They bring experience across mental health advocacy, wellbeing, community engagement, governance and strategic partnerships. The appointments expand the foundation’s board to six members as it continues to grow The Push-Up Challenge in Australia and internationally.
Environmental scientist Dr Renee Young has been appointed chair of Western Australia’s Soil and Land Conservation Council. Dr Young has served on the council since October 2022 and brings experience across agriculture, industry and environmental research. She replaces Dr Hayley Norman, who had chaired the council since September 2020.
Lotterywest has appointed Griffin Longley to its board of commissioners for a three-year term. Mr Longley is director of economic dignity and family supports at Minderoo Foundation and brings experience across leadership, governance, strategic planning and the community sector. A former journalist, he replaces Brianna Peake, who was appointed Investment and Trade Commissioner for the Americas.
Co3 Contemporary Dance has appointed Charmene Yap and Cass Mortimer Eipper as co-artistic directors from January 2027. The award-winning dance artists, who both have ties to Western Australia, will oversee the company’s artistic vision, programming and commissioning. They replace inaugural artistic director Raewyn Hill, who will step down in December after 12 years in the role.
Corazon Mining has appointed mining executive Rob Curtis as non-executive chair. Mr Curtis brings extensive experience across mining project development and corporate strategy and joins as Corazon advances its Western Australian gold portfolio. He replaces Kristie Young, who has resigned to focus on her other board commitments.
303 Mediahub has appointed five new staff as the Perth agency expands its media team. Emily Whyte has joined as media director, Vicki Crimmins as media manager, Ash Idle as planning director, Kaycee Williams as media coordinator and Sophie Ashby as performance coordinator. The appointments follow 303 Mediahub’s addition to the WA government’s media strategy and buying panel.
West Perth Football Club chief executive Joe McCarthy has resigned to join VenuesWest as general manager of Perth Park Motorsports. Mr McCarthy has led the Falcons through a period focused on growing match-day engagement and participation. West Perth general manager of performance pathways and participation Luke Richardson has been appointed interim chief executive following Mr McCarthy's departure.
