Current North Metropolitan Health Service chief executive Shirley Bowen has been selected as the next WA health director-general, starting in May. Dr Bowen has vast experience leading organisations in both the private and public healthcare sector, including stints as the St John of God Subiaco Hospital chief executive, ACT government chief medical officer, Fremantle Hospital executive director and University of Notre Dame School of Medicine Dean.
Healthway has appointed Cystic Fibrosis WA chief executive Lisa Bayakly to its board for a three-year term. Ms Bayakly has nearly 30 years of business experience across a variety of areas including organisational, research, and grant governance, and financial management. She stepped into her role at the helm of Cystic Fibrosis WA in February 2021 after 24 years at KPMG. Ms Bayakly worked in client services roles for the first half of her time at the advisory firm, before being promoted to partner in 2008. In addition to Ms Bayakly’s appointment, Healthway has also reappointed deputy presiding member Miriam Borthwick for a further three years.
Pragma Lawyers has merged with Gramercy Legal, resulting in three new additions to its legal team. Tony Di Francesco was appointed as special counsel, Matt Micale as senior associate and Sue Di Francesco as associate. Mr Di Francesco brings legal experience from a plethora of areas including corporate law, intellectual property, commercial law, large construction and infrastructure projects, property law, and aged care and elder law. Mr Micale practices in property and real estate, with expertise in acquisitions, disposals and developments for both private and public sector clients. Ms Di Francesco specialises in property and commercial law and has provided legal advice for individuals, corporations, port authorities and local government. All three lawyers have transitioned to Pragma Lawyers from the Gramercy Legal name following the merging of the companies.
AECOM has promoted civil engineer Craig Hollywood from principal technical officer to WA deputy defence lead. Mr Hollywood joined the Perth-based engineering firm in March 2020, and would be leading AECOM’s growth in the defence sector. Mr Hollywood is also the founder and non-executive director of Short Back and Sidewalks, a not-for-profit organisation providing free haircuts for people experiencing homelessness.
Since revealing she would be closing her communications firm, Nicole Moody has taken up the role as Fortescue Communications director. Ms Moody founded all-female public relations firm Hunter Communications in 2015, which specialised in reputation management and stakeholder engagement. The consultancy would shut on April 26. Ms Moody has more than three decades of media and public relations experience and in her new role, she would lead Fortescue's global communications teams across metals and energy, advocacy and events, and brand and digital markets. Ms Moody is also non-executive director of West Coast Eagles.
