Anglo Australian Resources has managed to get a drilling program going at its Mandilla project near Kalgoorlie in WA as many mining and exploration companies come to terms with operational restrictions as a result of COVID-19. Anglo has created a virtual bubble on site so that its team can stay pretty much isolated.
The company has recommenced a program of three diamond drill “tails” that will test the extents of gold mineralisation at Mandilla East down to 200 metres.
Once the diamond rig has finished, an RC rig will complete a program of 27 holes which will provide a reasonable data set from which to launch its next exploration program, once all the assays are returned.
The Mandilla gold mineralised trend extends for about four kilometres across the Mandilla West, Mandilla East northern extension and the Mandilla South prospects.
Anglo produced some stunning drill hits in February from Mandilla including 45m grading 2.33g/t gold from 82m downhole, 42m grading 1.85g/t from 45m and 41m grading 1.36g/t gold from 59m downhole.
The Mandilla project plays host to an existing 38,000 ounce gold resource that was defined back in 2013. That number is now looking a little pale however after all of the successful drilling recently and it is expected to be upgraded.
Anglo Australian Managing Director Marc Ducler said: “From the day we got involved here at Anglo – going on three months now – we have been absolutely focused on returning to the field and re-commencing exploration.”
“The successful $5.3 million capital raising completed earlier this month was the catalyst to start exploring again and we are very pleased to be back on the ground drilling.”
The company has secured an exploration base in Kambalda that will allow its field team to work almost in isolation apart from within its own workgroups. This means that Anglo will be able to keep operating with the stage three restrictions that are now in place. Management said it is constantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation and is well placed to move or adapt if anything changes.
