Perth-based Amcom Telecom has secured a contract to extend a high-speed fibre optic cable network in Adelaide for SABRENet.
The new network will be completed in mid 2009 and will extend some 14 kilometres from the existing network to Techport Australia, Australia's premier naval industry hub.
SABRENet and Amcom will also extend its long term infrastructure sharing agreement which will provide Amcom with an expanded network capability to service commercial customers at Techport and along the route at minimal capital outlay to Amcom.
"Our strategic alliance with SABRENet commenced in 2005 and we are delighted to be able to provide this network extension and leverage this to increase our addressable market in Adelaide" said Amcom CEO Mr Clive Stein.
When completed Amcom's South Australian fibre network will be in excess of 150 kilometres in length, covering both the CBD and key commercial areas across the greater metropolitan area.
Adelaide continues to increase sales levels as the company gains market penetration, contributing to its FY09 earnings guidance of at least 25 per cent net profit after tax growth.
