NRW Holdings has been selected as the preferred candidate to undertake $332 million worth of work on Allkem's lithium mine in the Great Southern.
Global lithium player Allkem issued NRW with a letter of intent for mining services works at its Mt Cattlin open-pit mine situated north of Ravensthorpe.
The contract, valued at $332 million, will be undertaken over a 36-month period and is anticipated to support a workforce of 140 people from August.
Subject to finalising outstanding terms before signing a formal contract, NRW will provide load and haul, drill and blast and materials rehandling at the mine.
Earlier this month, Allkem disclosed a plan to spend $115 million on a mine life expansion project for the Mt Cattlin operation, which involves evaluating underground mining activities.
The expansion plan followed an update to the market that it had lifted its ore reserve tonnage by 34 per cent to 7.8 million tonnes.
NRW chief executive Jules Pemberton said he was delighted to announce that NRW had been selected by Allkem as its preferred contactor.
“NRW is a world leading provider of services across all aspects of the lithium sector, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership with Allkem,” he said.
On the ASX, NRW’s shares were trading up slightly 1.49 per cent to $2.375 at 11.12AM AWST.
Allkem’s shares were also up 2.69 per cent to $16.17.
