Specialist materials technology company Alexium International Group has won a contract to provide its flame-retardant chemistry products to a US-based military supplier.
The deal, for an undisclosed sum, is with Rhode Island-based Murdock Webbing – a major supplier of rigid and stretch webbing for straps on items ranging from US military products to safety harnesses and rigid tie-downs.
“As we continue to capture more of the military market, we feel Murdock Webbing, with a steadfast reputation within the military arena, was the perfect choice for collaboration on this specialist application,” Alexium chief executive Nicholas Clark said.
“This is the next step in our goal of supplying the military with all of its flame retardant equipment needs.”
Following successful provision of stretch webbing for use in flexible goggle straps for the US military, Alexium expects to build on the partnership with Murdock Webbing into applications for backpacks, parachutes, field vests, duffle bags, uniform accessories, belts and tents.
Shares in Alexium were 1.7 per cent higher to 89.5 cents at 1:30pm.
