Aldoro lights up new WA base metal electromagnetic targets

Aldoro Resources has added to its exploration target list in Western Australia, with recent geophysical surveying over its tenure on the Narndee Intrusion, east of Paynes Find, lighting up new drill targets. Moving loop electromagnetic or “EM” surveys over the ground to the east of its VC-1 prospect has highlighted two prospective sulphide conductors, with three-dimensional modelling providing additional targets for the current drilling program.

The two targets are coined the VC-3 and East-1 conductors and bring the total number of priority EM targets at Aldoro’s prospective tenure to four.

The VC-3 target lies about 2.5km to the east of the VC1 conductor and is a north-east striking target that lies about 400m below surface. The conductor measures 600m-by-300m and is interpreted to sit on the contact between felsic basement rocks and an intrusive ultramafic body. This is a textbook location for magmatic nickel sulphide mineralisation, similar to the Nova-Bollinger and Mawson discoveries on the Fraser Range.

The second EM target, East-1, lies about 4km south-east of the VC-3 target and features a conductor measuring at least 500m-by-200m in size and sitting 250m below surface. Interestingly, the conductor returns a signature that kicks at over 6,000 Siemens, which may be indicative of a copper-rich system. The target is interpreted to be hosted by a sequence of felsic schists and sediments which leads to the assumption that it may be associated with volcanogenic massive sulphide or “VMS” mineralisation.

Whilst VC-3 is a substantial target the East1 conductors will likely turn a few heads with copper trading at close to US$10,000 a tonne. There are a number of VMS systems through the Murchison mineral province that hosts the Narndee Intrusion.

Foremost of these VMS systems is the one hosting the world-class Golden Grove copper-zinc mine south of Yalgoo, which was recently the centrepiece of  29 Metals’ initial public offering that raised more than $520 million, providing a glimpse at the lucrative potential of such a discovery.

Aldoro is now designing drilling to test its two new targets as the company executes its exploration programs over the previously identified VC-1 and VC-11 conductors within the under-explored Narndee Intrusion.

Initial results are expected in the weeks ahead.
