The Australian Taxation Office is pursuing the chief of a Cannington-based NDIS provider for allegedly unpaid tax debts and superannuation payments totalling more than $3 million.
The ATO alleged in a writ, filed in the Supreme Court of WA, Adrian Mtungwazi was the director of NDIS provider Adachi Disability Services Pty Ltd between the period of January 1, 2022 and August 26, 2024; during which time some $2.92 million in tax was unpaid.
It was also alleged that some $151,000 in superannuation was left unpaid during 2024.
Australian Securities and Investment Commission documents reveal Cannington-based Adachi entered liquidation on May 21, 2025.
The ATO action comes after, in February 2024, a banning order was made prohibiting the company from engaging directly or indirectly in the provision of NDIS-funded supports or services for two years.
In March 2024, the company was awarded the best family-run care and disability services company in Western Australia at the APAC Insider-Australian Enterprise Awards.
Mr Mtungwazi's LinkedIn profile lists him as the chief executive of Adachi Group, which is comprised of Adachi Disability Services, Adachi Training Oganisation, Mtungwazi Holdings, AC Automotive Centre and Globaltrac Properties Pvt Ltd (based in South Africa).
