Consulting engineering firm AMEC is the latest contractor to be awarded work on the $10 billion Roy Hill iron ore project.
AMEC will provide detailed design and engineering services for the project’s bulk ore handling facility at Port Hedland.
It has partnered with UK-based infrastructure planning and design firm Halcrow to provide a combined team with significant ore handling plant and engineering expertise.
The $20 million contract was awarded by Samsung C&T, the main contractor on the project.
“This award is recognition of AMEC’s ability to provide fit-for-purpose solutions in complex mining environments,” said Garry Dryburgh, AMEC’s executive vice president, Asia Pacific.
Samsung C&T has recently awarded Roy Hill contracts worth about $2.4 billion to NRW Holdings, Forge Group, Downer EDI and John Holland, among others.
