ABN Group secures $33m Canning Vale social housing project
The state and federal governments have selected ABN Group to build a 50-dwelling build-to-rent project in Canning Vale for $32.97 million.
Opposite the Metronet Nicholson Road Station, the development at 2344 Tulloch Way is set to include affordable rentals and social housing in a mix of one, two and three-bedroom homes.
The project – spanning 8,569 square metres of vacant state-owned land – is being funded through round two of the federal government’s Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF).
Dale Alcock’s ABN will build 19 rentals and 31 social homes to be managed by a community housing provider.
The builder appointment was announced in a state government release on Thursday morning, which revealed that once complete, the project would receive ongoing availability payments for 25 years through the HAFF.
Tangney MP Sam Lim said in the statement the project was one of the first in the state to be announced under the second round of the HAFF.
“The Tulloch Way project delivers 50 new social and affordable homes in Tangney and is part of the Albanese Labor government’s commitment to delivering 55,000 social and affordable homes,” he said.
“This project is one of the first in WA to be announced under Round 2 of the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), a $10 billion investment by the federal government to increase supply of social and affordable housing.”
Housing Minister John Carey called ABN’s appointment an “important milestone”.
“The appointment of ABN Residential is a step towards creating 50 new homes, right near the new Nicholson Road Station,” he said.
“This project also demonstrates our commitment to identifying government-land for new housing through the HDP.
“It’s part of a record $10.8 billion investment in housing since 2021, with thousands of social homes and affordable rentals in the pipeline.”
Jandakot MP Stephen Pratt said the development would make a “real difference” for local families moving into the area.
“Every new home matters, and this project will provide more affordable and social housing opportunities for people in Perth's southern suburbs,” he said.
