Virma Symons completed her degrees in Arts and Law at the University of Philippines in 1990. She then practised in the areas of commercial law, corporate law and labour law, while working for various law firms in the Philippines.
Ms Symons became an in-house counsel for corporations in the transportation, mining and banking sectors.
She attended the Ivy League Cornell University in New York where she completed her Master of Laws in 1998 majoring in corporate finance, banking and regulation, bankruptcy business combinations, international business transactions, secured transactions, foreign investments and commercial real estate development.
Ms Symons moved to Australia in 1998 and completed further studies at Murdoch University before being admitted as a barrister and solicitor in 2002. She has since practised in the areas of family law, property law, commercial law, wills and deceased estates, commercial litigation, care and protection of children. Ms Symons is a member of the Family Law Practitioners’ Association of Western Australia and has a special interest in international business transactions and project finance.
