Trevor Hart has been an audit partner for 17 years, with 27 years of experience at KPMG and as a senior leader in the Australian firm. He leads the KPMG audit practice in Perth, was chair of KPMG Australia’s Audit Quality Committee, and sits on the Australian National Audit Leadership Group. In April 2021, Mr Hart was appointed chair of its WA practice.
His client roles have been heavily focused in the mining sector, where he has also assisted with a number of capital markets transactions for miners raising equity or debt together with mergers and acquisitions and contract dispute matters. These transactions have been across markets such as the US, Canada, UK, Hong Kong and Australia with mining operations in Africa, South America, China, Mongolia, South East Asia, and Australia.
Mr Hart has completed a 7-year rotation as the auditor responsible for BHP Iron Ore, reporting on SoX and Financials to the risk and audit committee over its operations in Australia, Brazil and Africa during a period of both rapid expansion to revenues in excess of US$20billion and then sector adjustment with cost containment focus. He has audited two other iron ore producers and has significant experience in that sector.
Mr Hart’s mining sector experience for ASX100 to ASX500 companies producing gold, nickel, aluminium, coal, zinc, lead diamonds, copper, vanadium and lithium together with mining contractors and service providers across most continents.
