Tim Winton

Tim Winton AO is one of Western Australia’s most celebrated authors and a committed environmentalist.

Mr Winton, who is a four-time winner of the Miles Franklin Award and has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize twice, has written 29 books including Cloudstreet, Breath, and Dirt Music. In 1997, he was listed as a Living Treasure by the National Trust.

He has been a conservation advocate for decades, with a prominent role in the Save Ningaloo Campaign in the 2000s.

In 2023, Mr Winton was awarded an Officer of the Order of Australia for distinguished service to literature as an author and novelist, to conservation, and to environmental advocacy.
