Steve Knott AM has been the chief executive of the Australian Mines and Metals Association (AMMA) since October 1997. Prior to that role, he served two years as AMMA's Western Australian manager and one year as Tasmanian manager. Before joining AMMA, Mr Knott held senior management positions with the Hydro Electric Commission Tasmania including the roles of employee relations manager and human resources manager.
Mr Knott is a member of the National Workplace Relations Consultative Council, the International Labour Advisory Committee, is AMMA's representative on the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's General Council and holds various other representative roles on behalf of AMMA.
He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Monash University, has professional memberships with the Australian Institute of Company Directors & the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria, and is a Fellow of the Australian Human Resources Institute.
In 2017, Mr Knott was appointed a Member in the Order of Australia for services to the resources and energy industries, to the advancement of women, and to industrial relations.
