Simon Heggen has been non-executive director of Metals X since October 2012 and was chair from October to December 2019.
He holds Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws Degrees from the Australian National University and worked in investment banking during the late 1980's and early 1990's before joining Wesfarmers Business Development team in Perth. In 1995, he returned to Melbourne to join WMC Resources in a senior corporate development role where he worked on many of the transactions and development projects undertaken by the company up to and including the BHP Billiton takeover. He then worked in stockbroking and was a consultant to the resource sector before becoming managing director and chief executive of a listed exploration company, Resource Star, in 2011.
Mr Heggen has around 28 years' experience in strategic planning, corporate development, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance with the bulk of this in the resource sector.
