Scott Ryan was appointed Special Minister of State and Cabinet Secretary in July 2016. Prior to that, he was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education. Mr Ryan was the President of the Senate from 2017 until his retirement from federal parliament in October 2021, having previously been a minister in the Turnbull Government from 2016 to 2017.
