Ryuchi Shimokawa was the chief executive of Nippi Trading Co, the largest importer of timber in Japan, before starting his own business ventures in Japan and Singapore.

His business empire quickly emerged as the biggest importers timber in Japan from Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines.
