Ryan O'Hare co-founded telecommunications service provider corpTEL Communications in 1993, which in 1998 became one of the largest privately-owned telecommunication service providers in Australia. Mr O'Hare was its shareholder, chief executive and chair until its sale to AAPT.

In 2000, he founded People Telecom which later became a part of the Vocus Group.

In 2007, Mr O'Hare founded Next Telecom as an award-winning SME telecoms group; and in 2014 Next Business Energy which won the Financial Review Fast 100 award.
