Russell Scrimshaw AM is a corporate executive and company director with extensive experience in large scale mining project development and operations, product marketing, finance, business development and technology.
Mr Scrimshaw was a founding director and deputy chief executive of Fortescue Metals Group where he was part of the key management team that completed its history-making iron ore mine, port and rail start-up. He has negotiated billions of dollars of off-take agreements, signing agreements with approximately 50 steel mills, including all ten of China’s top ten steel mills. Prior to Fortescue Metals, Mr Scrimshaw was a board member of Commonwealth Properties, EDS Australia, Mobilesoft, Telecom New Zealand Australia, The Garvan Institute Foundation, and Athletics Australia. He had also held executive positions within the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Optus, Alcatel, IBM and Amdahl USA.
In 2023, Mr Scrimshaw was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to community health, and to business governance.
