Sir Rod Eddington AO is a highly distinguished Australian businessman and community leader.
Sir Rod was the managing director of Cathay Pacific, chair of Ansett Australia, deputy chair of News Limited, and chief executive of British Airways before retiring from executive duties.
He holds first class honours degree in Engineering, a Master of Engineering, and a PhD in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Oxford where he also played eight first-class cricket matches for Oxford University Cricket Club. In 1974, Sir Rod was the Rhodes Scholar from Western Australia.
Sir Rod had received a British knighthood in 2005 for services to the aviation industry; was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2012 for distinguished service to business and commerce through roles with a range of national and international economic, trade, infrastructure development and transport organisations; and was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun by the Japanese Government in 2015 for his contribution to strengthening the economic relations between Australia and Japan.
