Renata Paliskis grew up on a farm in NSW. She studied Agriculture, majoring in Grazing Animal Husbandry and Wool & Pastoral Science. Her first job was as a meat and livestock buyer for a supermarket chain before progressing through the industry working for the Australian Meat & Livestock Corporation and Metro Meat, and going on to become regional director of the WA Department of Agriculture. Ms Paliskis played a major role in the introduction of the Meat Standards and the Kimberly Aboriginal Station Skills Training Project. For nine years, she was chief executive of the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority and was responsible for the construction in 2010 of the Muchea Livestock Centre, the largest undercover dual species saleyard in the southern hemisphere. During this time, she worked with members of the supply chain to develop the Animal Welfare Standards for Western Australian Saleyards which was launched by the State and Federal Ministers for Agriculture in 2008. Ms Paliskis has a Masters in Business Administration, a Diploma in Leadership & Management, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Accounting. She is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Fellow of the Australian Rural Leadership Foundation. She runs a small farm with 80 cows, producing forward store weaners for the feedlot market.
