Phil McCaw is the founding partner of Movac, one of New Zealand's Venture Capital funds.
Mr McCaw has over 20 years of experience investing in New Zealand technology companies and helping to guide their growth. He was an early investor in Trade Me, New Zealand's on-line trading community, which was sold to Fairfax in 2006. He was also an early investor of PowerByProxi, a wireless power technology spin-out from Auckland University, which was sold to Apple in 2018.
Outside of Movac, Mr McCaw remains an angel investor and maintains a personal angel investment portfolio. He is a advocate for the development of the entrepreneurial and early-stage investment eco-system in New Zealand.
Mr McCaw was chair of the Angel Association of New Zealand; a founding investor in the Lightning Lab technology accelerator; and a founding investor in the Kiwi Landing Pad in San Francisco. Prior to starting Movac, he spent 10 years at Deloitte Consulting's New Zealand and US offices.
