Peter Johnston is a highly experienced Australian mining executive and company director with over 35 years of operational and project development experience.
He has held senior roles with resource companies including as managing director and chief executive of Minara Resources, executive general manager of WMC Resources from 1993 to 2001 where he was also responsible for the nickel and gold operations, Olympic Dam operations, Queensland Fertilizers and human resources. He had also held senior positions with Lion Nathan Australia and Alcoa of Australia.
Mr Johnston was chair of the Minerals Council of Australia, an executive council member and president of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA, a director and chair of the Nickel Institute, and vice president of the Australian Mines and Metals Association.
