Noel Cornish AM has over 40 years of experience, with a cadetship in 1969 at BHP Steel before rising to the role of chief executive at BlueScope's Australian and New Zealand steel manufacturing businesses. He had also held a number of senior leadership positions, including as president of NorthStar BHP Steel in Ohio and group general manager of South Australia's Whyalla Steelworks.
Mr Cornish has been the non-executive director and chair of IMB Bank, chair of Hunter Valley Coal Chain Coordinator, and non-executive director of University of Wollongong Global Enterprises. He was chair of Snowy Hydro, deputy chancellor at the University of Wollongong, and national president of Ai Group.
In 2017, Mr Cornish was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to business as an advocate for industry policy and development, to tertiary education administration, and to the community.
