Nicholas Mather has been involved in the junior resource sector at all levels for 34 years, during which time he has been instrumental in the creation of resource companies with aggregate market caps at takeover and of approximately $6.8Bn.
He is chief executive of SolGold, heading up a tier 1 copper gold porphyry in Ecuador driving the market capitalisation to £630 million. Mr Mather also sits on the boards of IronRidge Resources, Aus Tin Mining, Dark Horse Resources, and Lakes Oil.
He was managing director and co-founder of DGR Global; co-founder and executive director of Arrow Energy NL until 2004 when Arrow Energy was acquired in 2010 by Shell and PetroChina for a value of approximately $3.5 billion; founder and chair of Waratah Coal until December 2008 when it was acquired for $130m; co-founder and non-executive director of Bow Energy until its takeover by Arrow Energy in January 2012 for approximately $550 million. As chief executive, Mr Mather also drove the discovery of the Pooncarie Mineral Sands project for BeMaX Resources prior to its purchase (£350 million) and the generation of the bulk of the asset base for Northern Energy ($250 million). He was a founding director of Orbis Gold which was sold in 2014 for AU$178 million and sub underwrote the refinancing of Ballarat Gold prior to its AU$500 million takeover by Lihir Gold.
