Michele Bullock has held a variety of senior management positions since joining the Reserve Bank of Australia in 1985. She was the chief manager of payments policy department in 1998, head of payments policy department in February 2007, advisor and assistant governor of the currency group in September 2010, assistant governor of business services in November 2015, assistant governor of financial system in November 2016, and as deputy governor in April 2022. Ms Bullock became the first woman to lead the RBA when she was appointed its 9th governor in September 2023.
Ms Bullock is also deputy chair of the Reserve Bank of Australia board, deputy chair of the Payments System Board, member of Chief Executive Women, and executive sponsor of the Reserve Bank's employee resource group for accessibility.
