Michael Smith is the principal of boutique strategy consultancy Black House, having previously served 31 years as founder and managing director of The Marketing Centre until 2008.
Mr Smith began his career with TVW, he then joined Perth advertising agency McAuliffe & Goff.
He has been chair of 7-Eleven Australia, Starbucks Australia, Lionel Samson Sadliers Group and Pioneer Credit; and sits on the board of Creative Partnerships Australia. Mr Smith was deputy chair of Automotive Holdings Group; national president of the Australian Institute of Company Directors; chair of iiNet, Synergy and Verve; and director of HOME Building Society and Indian Pacific. He retired as chair of the Perth International Arts Festival in 2012, and had also served as chair of the West Coast Eagles, Scotch College, the Pearling Industry Advisory Committee, and Barking Gecko Theatre Company.
