Mia Davies became Leader of the National Party of Australia (WA) after the state election in March 2017. She was first elected to represent the Agricultural Region at the 2008 State election. At the 2013 State election, she successfully contested the seat of Central Wheatbelt for The Nationals WA.
In November 2013, Ms Davies made history when she became the first female party member to be appointed Deputy Leader of The Nationals WA. A month later she was appointed to Cabinet as Minister for Water; Forestry, taking over the role from Terry Redman.
Following the 2021 state election, Ms Davies became the Leader of the Opposition. She was also the Shadow Minister for regional development, finance, electoral affairs, federal-state relations, public sector management, women’s interests, jobs and trade. As part of the changes to the National-Liberal Alliance Shadow Ministry in March 2022, she took on an additional portfolio as Shadow Minister for Regional Cities. In January 2023, Ms Davies resigned as the Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the National Party in Western Australia but will remain as MLA for Central Wheatbelt until 2025 before stepping away from politics. The National-Liberal Alliance was formed in February 2023 and Ms Davies became the Shadow Minister for mines & petroleum, electoral affairs, Aboriginal affairs.
Prior to entering Parliament, Ms Davies worked as a policy advisor for the Leader of the Parliamentary National Party, executive officer at the Chamber of Minerals and Energy and as a communications consultant.
Ms Davies is a member of the Northam Chamber of Commerce, Avon Tourism Board, Wheatbelt Business Network, Avon Community Development Foundation, Country Women’s Association, Youth Advisory Council, Country Arts WA and the Royal Agricultural Society.
She holds a Bachelor of Marketing and the Media from Murdoch University.
