Martin Dougiamas has experience as a software engineer in in the mining sector.

Mr Dougiamas is the founder of West Perth-based technology company Moodle, a global leader in online learning management systems. He was chief executive from January 2000 to January 2024 before transitioning to head of research, to focus on the use of transformative technologies in education.

Prior to founding Moodle in 2000, he spent seven years as an internet consultant at Curtin University.

Mr Dougiamas holds a PhD in Internet-based Education.
