Nzuri Copper has received an all-cash takeover offer from leading Chinese industrial player Chengtun Mining Group, that values the company at 37c a share, or about AUD$109.5m. The company owns the Kalongwe copper-cobalt project within the Central African Copperbelt in the far south of the DRC, which holds an ore reserve of 8 million tonnes grading 2.94% copper and 0.34% cobalt, which was used to underpin the company's 2018 feasibility study.

Nzuri Copper has extended copper mineralisation to 1.2km of strike at its Kasangasi prospect, located 20km west from the flagship Kalongwe deposit in the DRC. Results of up to 15m @ 1.07% copper from 83m down-hole were returned. The company also reported impressive cobalt results from the Monwezi 7 prospect, saying the prospect has potential to be a key, near-mine, additional source of high-grade cobalt feed.

Nzuri Copper has extended its copper mineralisation to over 270m of strike and a vertical depth of 150m, after the latest drilling at its Monwezi 2 prospect in the DRC. Best results of up to 7.1m @ 0.82% copper from 73.9m down-hole were returned. Nzuri also generated an Exploration Target for Monwezi 2 ranging between 1.0 - 2.5 million tonnes grading between 0.8 - 1.5% copper.

New assays have confirmed Nzuri Copper's high hopes for a cobalt-rich zone just 800m along strike from its proposed Kalongwe copper project. Resource drilling is already being planned with expectations of a JORC resource in the near term. Drilling at Monwezi II just 2.5km along strike has also produced some very encouraging signs of copper and cobalt, including massive sulphides.

Nzuri Copper has appointed Lycopodium Minerals as its key engineering contractor for the Stage 1 Dense Media Separation plant at the Kalongwe copper-cobalt project in the DRC. Lycopodium was also retained for a Stage 2 economic assessment at the project. Nzuri are moving at a cracking pace now at Kalongwe which is in real danger of actually producing copper some time soon.

Nzuri Copper has announced that it has started its 2018 exploratory field program in the DRC, with drilling to target eight high priority copper-cobalt targets identified last year from geological and geophysical interpretation. The targets all lie within 30km of the existing ore reserve defined at the flagship Kalongwe copper-cobalt deposit and each target has potential for a new base metal discovery in this prospective district.

Nzuri Copper has produced its best copper hits yet from a target area immediately along strike from the Kalongwe project in the DRC, opening the door for a possible significant extension of mine life. Drill hits of up to 7.7% copper were accompanied by encouraging cobalt intercepts, all at shallow depths and within 5km of the flagship project.

Drilling at Monwezi 2 has extended an historic copper-cobalt intercept in three directions and confirmed a new geological interpretation of the target.

Excitement around Nzuri Copper's joint venture with Ivanhoe Mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been validated by some very interesting hits of Cobalt and Copper from early stage exploration. Drilling has identified a high-grade Cobalt zone at Monwezi West and shown that another target has similarities with Ivanhoe's giant Kamoa-Kakula Copper discovery nearby.

Nzuri Copper have kicked off an ultra-high resolution aeromagnetic survey over their quality Copper-Cobalt targets on the doorstep of Ivanhoe Mines' giant new discoveries in the Central African Copper belt. The survey will provide a clearer picture of the subsurface and sharpen definition of the kind of markers that were crucial in Ivanhoe's Kamoa and Kakula discoveries.

ASX-listed Nzuri Copper have carved out an enviable position alongside Robert Friedland's Ivanhoe Mines and their world-beating copper discovery in the Congo. The ASX listed junior is racing towards a development decision for its own Copper-Cobalt project discovered just 15km from Friedman's miraculous 1 billion tonne copper deposit. Nzuri are also farming into Ivanhoe's ground in a JV partnership.
