
Lisa Ali is a senior executive with experience in leading large-scale global business transformation within the global resources sector. She has also worked in a range of commercial and technical roles in the petrochemical and manufacturing sectors.
Ms Ali was the chief people and sustainability officer of Newcrest Mining from February 2020 to April 2022, and was responsible for human resources; government relations; social performance and internal communications; and health, safety, environment & sustainability. She left Newcrest Mining following her appointment as chief people officer of Anglogold Ashanti in April 2022. Prior to Newcrest, she was the interim chief executive of Paria Fuel and Trading Company, a successor company of Petrotrin, the state-owned oil company of Trinidad and Tobago. At Petrotrin, she was responsible for leading the transformation of the state-owned integrated oil company and the successful incorporation and startup of four new standalone companies.
Ms Ali started her career as an industrial chemist, transitioning to human resources when she joined BP in 2006 and had a 12-year career in senior HR and transformation roles. As vice president of human resources at BP International, she was the strategic business partner for BP global operations organisation before moving to become vice president of upstream talent and learning. Ms Ali was seconded to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company to advise on the transformation of the human capital function and the restructuring of its 14 group operating companies. Her other roles at BP included vice president of HR in Brazil and Trinidad.
Ms Ali holds an Executive MBA and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Chemistry.
