Lew Beale joined the swimming pool industry in the summer of 1973. In 1984, he became managing director of Aqua Technics (now Aquatic Leisure Technologies) before stepping down in June 2017 and handing the role to his daughter Lynley. He remains with the company as executive chair. Mr Beale was an executive member of the local Swimming Pool and Spa Association for over ten years, presiding as president for two years. He also acted as a director at the Council of the Australian Swimming Pool and Spa Association. Mr Beale was an active member of PL/41 ‐ a committee formed by Standards Australia for the development and amendment of AS1838 and AS1839 ‐ the standards for the manufacturing and installation of fibreglass swimming pools. He was also a committee member and chair of the Australian Fibreglass Swimming Pool Manufacturers Group.
