
Leon McIvor is a successful WA Government senior executive who has held general manager, executive director and deputy director general roles in the WA Government across Tourism, Agriculture, Health and Housing portfolios.
As Deputy Director General - Housing and Homelessness at the Department of Communities, Mr McIvor led the strategic policy, planning and delivery of land, housing, and built-form construction, refurbishment and maintenance activities of more than 50,000 housing assets.
In previous roles across the WA Health system, Mr McIvor was responsible for the COVID-19 Logistics Cell within the State Health Incident Coordination Centre during the pandemic and held leadership roles in the commissioning and opening of Fiona Stanley and Perth Children’s hospitals, as well as the commissioning and redevelopment of Peel Health Campus to transition the privately operated 200-bed hospital back under public service operation.
Before joining the public sector in 2010, Mr McIvor served as a commissioned officer within the Australian Defence Force, where he spent more than 10 years in a range of Army roles, including service in the Iraq War in 2005.
