Ken Nilsson had over 35 years of international mine construction and production experience.
Mr Nilsson was the managing director of Troy Resources in 1997 and stepped down to become chief operating officer from April 1997 to December 2011, director of project development, and was reappointed chief executive & managing director from July 2017 until his passing in September 2021. Mr Nilsson passed away after failing to recover from a medical procedure the week before.
Since his relocation from Australia in 2002, Mr Nilsson oversaw the construction and operation of Troy Resources' South American mines. He was responsible for the construction and development of Troy Resources' Western Australian operations at Sandstone, and relocated to Brazil to oversee the building of the Sertao Mine in Goias state. In 2007, Mr Nilsson led the team responsible for the relocation of the Sertao plant and the development of the Andorinhas Mine, and subsequently relocated to Argentina and managed the development of its Casposo operation. He was also responsible for operations at the Karouni Gold Project in Guyana.
