A little bit of courage and a good chat
Business News talks to two Western Australians about why they decided to dedicate their spare time to founding a charity and how they made it happen.
Kelly Bergsma is the founder and chief executive of The Good Chat Foundation, a Perth-based charitable organisation with a focus on improving mental health through sport participation. Ms Bergsma is passionate about improving the quality of life for young Australians struggling with mental health disorders.
Ms Bergsma started as a producer in 2013. In 2019 she wrote, produced and directed two short films with a two-week turnaround from script to screen on a $4000 budget. The budget was crowdfunded in 6 days and allowed for the successful production of Behind Closed Doors and Break The Surface, two short films about untreated PTSD and men’s mental health.
