Dr Katharine Noonan is a public health medicine registrar currently working on the WA COVID-19 response with the WA Department of Health.
Dr Noonan previously worked with the National Health Service (NHS) for a public sector consulting firm in London, as policy and research lead with the AMA (WA) and clinically in paediatrics at Perth Children’s Hospital. She has experience in research with the Streptococcus A, Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) and Skin Health team at Telethon Kids Institute as head of strategy for END RHD and a senior clinical research fellow for the Australian Strep A Vaccine Initiative (ASAVI).
Dr Noonan joined the AMA (WA) council in July 2019 and the AMA (WA) board in August 2020. In 2021, she was elected vice president of the AMA (WA), the first female vice president in 24 years and the first Doctor-in-Training to hold the position.
Dr Noonan holds a Masters in Global Health Science from the University of Oxford, where she studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
